Wheel Certification

The Hazard Defined

A 26.5 x 25 tire inflated at 90 psi has 373,650 ft/lbs of stored energy. For example, released ”instantly” it packs the power equal to move a 200 lb. man 1,868 feet in one direction. The bigger the tire and wheel – the more stored potential energy!

Why inspect, repair, and track wheels?

  • An inflated tire/wheel assembly is a Bomb!
  • The bigger the tire and wheel – the more stored potential energy!
  • There is no such thing as a SMALL ACCIDENT when it comes to rim failure!

Let us assist you in your due diligence and provide you with peace of mind.

What will the Tracking Program do for you?

  • Provide improved wheel safety for everyone involved in the use and servicing of multipiece wheels.
  • Track the complete history of inspections and repair actions done on your wheels from the time they enter service to the time they are retired.
  • Provide you with a detailed report for each inspection.
  • Help you identify and proactively correct recurring wheel issues.
  • Assist in providing an increased return on your investments through an enhanced wheel life cycle.
  • Provide a program that would prove due diligence in the case of an unforeseen incident involving wheel failure.
  • Help keep your wheels in good service condition which results in less down time, prolonged life and most of all safety for all concerned.

A recent study commissioned by WSIB and Work Place Safety conducted by the University of Windsor concluded: “results suggest the dimensions determined by the OTR Wheel Canada “GO/NO -GO” gauges are effectively designed to identify wheels which exhibit a reduced fatigue life condition and should be considered for maintenance. The use of the gauges or similar methodologies to facilitate the inspection of rim components is highly recommended to ensure the safety of the rim components”
